Course Overview

This course equips learners with the essential skills to set up and use smart devices effectively. Participants will learn how to navigate app stores, customise settings, and establish secure network connections. Additionally, learners will manage data, explore online communication tools, and practice safe online behavior. The course also covers using smart devices to access and perform transactions on health, education, and transportation platforms, ensuring a well-rounded digital literacy experience.

Course Objectives

By the end of this course, learners will be able to:

Set up and use a smart device effectively by understanding and using its physical components, navigating app stores to download applications, customising software settings, and establishing secure connections to cellular networks and Wi-Fi.
Store, retrieve, and delete information on mobile devices and find information online using mobile devices.
Use various online communication tools and platforms to send and receive messages, participate in virtual meetings, and engage in social networking while maintaining appropriate online etiquette and ensuring data privacy and security.
Navigate and use relevant online platforms to perform online transactions related to health services, educational platforms, and transportation systems.

Learning Outcomes

Operate mobile device buttons, secure the device with passwords and biometrics, use app stores,mitigate internet risks, manage apps, personalise settings, connect to networks, and use public Wi-Fi securely.
Identify storage locations for photos, videos, and documents on mobile devices, save information viascreenshots or bookmarks, retrieve and delete information, use search engines effectively, and utilise Generative AI tools to find information online.
Effectively use health, learning, and transport apps by understanding their common features, setting up and managing accounts, filling out and submitting online forms, making secure payments, and identifying and protecting against online transaction scams.
Secure online accounts with strong passwords and authentication. Recognise the importance of securing accounts and one-time passwords (OTPs) and take appropriate actions to ensure their online safety.
Secure mobile devices and accounts by setting up strong passwords and authentication, including biometric safety features.
Recognise the types and signs of common scams, take appropriate actions against scams, download and install ScamShield, and avoid self-blame in the event of being scammed.
